The Story Behind The Collection
Grounded in decades of clinical experience
Suicide prevention has shaped Dr. Rola’s work from the very beginning.
Her career spans more than 25 years and began during night shifts as a mental health counselor in a busy psychiatric hospital, where she witnessed the complexity of suicidality and crisis firsthand. Those early experiences shaped her clinical expertise in suicide assessment, diagnosis, and the importance of prevention.
Her work later expanded into outpatient and community based care, supporting youth and adults navigating depression, trauma, and serious mental illness. She has also provided clinical services within correctional settings, including work with individuals housed in highly isolated administrative segregation units, where emotional distress and suicide risk are often elevated.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Rola speaks openly about suicide prevention through public forums and her YouTube channel, using education and conversation to reduce stigma and encourage people to seek help.
This combination of direct clinical care, prevention focused work, and public education led Dr. Rola to create the suicide prevention merchandise featured on this site—an extension of her ongoing commitment to keep conversations visible, accessible, and grounded in real experience.
